EOM Offshore Launches Safe-Moor Conservation Mooring

March 1, 2020 By MOTN

EOM Offshore, LLC is proud to announce the launch of subsidiary company, Safe-Moor, LLC.    Aptly named, Safe-Moor is the strongest and most effective conservation mooring offered in the market.   Safe-Moor addresses the marine market’s need for “eco-friendly” mooring lines to replace existing “chain-and-block” anchor systems currently used that are responsible for sea floor “scouring.”  Scouring leads to loss of ocean productivity through decimation of seagrasses, corals, and other biota.

Safe MoorSafe-Moor’s design is an evolution of the technology and production EOM Offshore’s industry-standard Stretch EM Cable.  Designed for large scale, high wave oceanic conditions, the EM Cable has proven itself in the most extreme conditions worldwide for over 10 years.  EOM engineers applied those same proven design parameters to a scaled-down version:  the result is Safe-Moor.   Utilizing anti-biofouling technology along with 316 stainless steel terminations, Safe-Moor’s lifespan is expected to exceed ten years, far longer than existing chain solutions, all without the harmful environmental effects of that same chain.  Proposed uses for this technology includes small boat moorings, seasonal docks, maritime protection barriers, wave energy conversion systems, oceanographic moorings, wave-following buoy tethers, and other marine applications.

“We recognized a need in the market for a long-lasting and high-strength mooring solution, one that did not cause any of the adverse effects of current solutions.  Now, after several years of design, modeling, and intensive testing, we are proud to introduce Safe-Moor to the marine industry,”  stated EOM Offshore CEO, David Aubrey.
