You are invited to join SeaAhead and our partners for a lively exploration of the potential for offshore wind, green hydrogen, and other alternative fuels to help drive a decarbonized maritime industry, at sea and in port, by 2050.
To reach decarbonization goals for the shipping industry set by the United Nations IMO, the first net-zero ships likely need to enter the global fleet by 2030. But the environmental impact of the maritime sector is more than the sum of its vessels; the OECD estimates that carbon and NOx footprints of ports will grow fourfold in the next 30 years unless they invest in emissions-free operations and power generation.

Startup Pitch Session
- sHYp introduces the first electrolyser to use sea water to produce hydrogen. No desalination, no purification, no toxic waste.
- Syzygy Plasmonics is developing a new type of photocatalytic chemical reactor to revolutionize the industrial gas, chemical, and energy industries.
- C-Zero uses high temperatures to split methane – the primary molecule in natural gas – into hydrogen and solid carbon in a process known as methane pyrolysis.
- Fuel Trust leverages a technology platform that authenticates relationships across the fuel lifecycle, digitally verifies data from shared sources, validates compliance, and identifies potential fraud.
- Caltech Professor of Geochemistry and Global Environmental Science Dr. Jess Adkins will discuss Calcite-based flue gas decarbonization.
- Starfire Energy creates green ammonia via patented technology and a process that allows us to directly use renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and hydro.
