Peter Kellier, NOAA Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office

Peter Kelliher is the Northeast Marine Mammal Shipstrike and Monitoring Coordinator.  He has worked at the NOAA Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) in Gloucester for 15 years.  Prior to his work with NOAA, Peter worked with Massachusetts Fisheries and New England Aquarium on right whale research.  At GARFO, Peter has been involved with the conservation and recovery of species protected by the Endangered Species and Marine Mammal Protection Acts.  His work includes assessing and reducing the effects of fishing gear interactions on marine mammals and developing mitigation measures for endangered whales. Over the past 22 years, Peter has also taught marine and environmental science, biology and general biology at colleges in the Boston area.

Sophie is the Québec Government’s first Research & Innovation Attachée as well as specialist for life sciences within Québec’s commercial affairs governmental offices in the US. A generalist with an MBA from IE Business School and an early career in a Swiss corporate law firm, Sophie developed a passion and keen understanding for science, technology and innovation. Working as an entrepreneur in the fintech sector after graduating from her MBA and then within a government context, Sophie is an expert at transforming ideas into action and pursuing a bold vision to explore the potential of sharing knowledge and developing relationships. Based in Boston, Sophie connects Québec ‘s innovative companies and research centers to the US innovation ecosystem using a number of different instruments including identification of transformative trends; scouting scientific, industrial and co-investment partners for the advancement of collaborative research projects; implementing and supporting initiatives in research and innovation; and facilitating and fostering start-ups’ market prospection etc.
