Forging Ahead!

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is pleasure and honor to be taking the MOTN helm. I know that I have some big shoes to fill, but I look forward to growing with the organization and it’s members.

I would also like to welcome our new Vice President, Toby Stapleton, who I believe brings a fresh perspective to our group. I would also like to welcome our new board members Rich Weissman from Endicott College, and Todd Morrison from Woods Hole Group.

An Exciting Event

We also have our first maritime event under our new leadership this month, November 28-29 at the UMASS CIE  building in Fall River, MA.

Day 1 will be the MOTN/MTS Tech Surge with sessions that will include representatives from the academic, commercial, and military sectors focusing on subsea and marine autonomy. The speakers and panel sessions will focus on the present technologies available including networking, hardware, software, and swarming techniques. Networking of unmanned vehicles includes communication, maneuvering, onboard processing and operational complexity, all components that are essential in such networks. This event will encompass a multi-faceted discussion in autonomous platforms, applications, and technologies.

Day 2 will focus on CIE Maritime Innovations. The Maritime Innovations Conference connects, trains and advances awareness of the latest maritime technologies. This event will bring together leading edge marine technology companies for a day of programming aimed at providing an overview of current trends in the industry, and a showcase of startup companies discussing their newest technologies.

This conference promises to be the largest of it’s kind in New England, and we are excited to make our Tech Surge part of this annual event!Our industry has seen some challenging times over the past few years, and now more than ever the need for networking events like this are important to our membership base.<

Our Goals Going Forward

Our goal moving forward is to increase that membership base and expand our networking capabilities outside of, and beyond New England. We all know the benefits of MOTN membership and we are excited about our goals going forward!
